Frans Nicholas Architects was established 20 years ago as a Welsh design
practice offering high quality architectural services.
We produce innovative and well-thought-out contemporary design, alongside the expert conservation of historic buildings. Working closely with our clients, we seek to make successful, distinctive, and human-scaled buildings and places, and practical, sustainable solutions.
From our base in West Wales, we work throughout Wales, and also work in the South West of England.
We have built up extensive experience with a wide range of building types
and projects for all sectors (private, public and voluntary) including:
houses and extensions; schools; commercial work; mixed-use developments;
and the conservation of historic buildings, including chapels/churches, public buildings and landscapes, maritime structures, and lighthouses.
The practice also has a strong consultancy dimension, and has written and
published a number of authoritative and practical studies, formal appraisals, and guidance documents on historic sites, conservation areas, and town centres, working for a range of clients including major institutions, business, and local government.
The practice has also acted as an expert witness in Planning Appeals.
